Declan Brennan finishes camp with win

05.08.2008

Declan Brennan finished off his training camp in Carlow with a big thank you to his new coach when he won the Ivy Rooms Under 19 Open. In the final he beat fellow member of the academy of champions star David Cassidy from Cork 3-1 in a superb final.

The 15 year old snooker star from Newry in Northern Ireland made a string of breaks through out the day and had breaks of 87 and 110 clearance in the final. Declan told Foul4.com that he was very happy with his camp in Carlow and his confidence is sky high after training with P.J.

Declan is delighted to become the newest member of the academy of champions and he feels that P.J.’s coaching, advice and training routines will help him become a better player over the next few seasons.

PJ really pushed me to the limit with his daily 7 hrs training schedule but I now know what I need to work on and I can not wait until the new season begins in Northern Ireland. The youngster will not have long to wait as he will represent the Northern Ireland Under 16’s in the annual North v South challenge on the 23rd August in Carlow.

Declan hopes to return throughout the season to receive training and coaching from PJ and he believes the Republic of Ireland Academy of Champions will produce a number of top players over the next couple of years.

During my camp I practiced with the new batch of young players that are coming through PJ’s academy : Daniel Dempsey, Josh Boileau, Tom Hogan, Dylan Scully, Karl Fitzpatrick, Ross Doyle

I believe they will all become the players to push established Under 16 players like Jason Devaney, David Cassidy, Andrew Gray and Daniel O Regan for the titles this season.

Declan also ended up breaking numerous  records of P.J.’s training routines.

1)      The X line up – 189

2)      21 angle blue – 18

3)      One red break - 114

Other Under 16 academy members can now try their skill and attempt to break his records
